V:OICED :  words from asphalt

As the recent pandemic swept the world, the United States was faced with an added WAKEUP CALL: innocent black men and women were targeted; the wounds of racism were laid bare. The urgency of this moment compelled me to ask questions: How am I, an advantaged white woman, able to come to any understanding of what it means to be Black in America today? How can I enter—truly feel the struggles of my Black brothers and sisters? Using poetic tools—recognizing the potentials of—The Word as Witness—poems were written, a movement exposé was forged. The film V:OICED :  words from asphalt  was born.
