in the beginning

in the beginning     wind     shadow     struggle     stone

I first visited the City of Culture, Santiago de Compostela, Spain, in March of 2011. Despite the grey and damp of that particular day, I was awestruck by the magnificence of Peter Eisenman’s architecture. As I walked between the buildings I said to myself I want to perform here one day. And that dream came true. On July 9th, 2015, along with an actor and a guitarist, I performed Shipwrecks of Light, homage to the Galician poet Manuel Antonio. 
I was also given permission to film outside, on the days following the performance.
In the beginning is a short prelude to my movement conversation with these spaces.
